Did You Know We’re Part of Children’s Book Week?
It’s true. This year, we’re an official Children’s Book Week event.
What does that mean for you?
- It means we were able to recruit children’s authors like the beloved Walter Dean Myers, who is the U.S. National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.
- It means great giveaways, including a limited edition Children’s Book Week poster for the first 100 people to spend $30 and a free Children’s Book Week canvas tote for the first 50 people to spend $50 at the Politics & Prose book sales tent the day of the festival. (The book sales tent opens at 10 a.m.)
It’s also a tribute to the historic strength of our children’s and young adult programming at the festival.
And this year is no different!
Our incredible Children’s Village not only will feature some of the top authors in children’s literature, but also will include the Imagination Station, where children can perform or watch professional entertainers; the StoryTime Tent, which will host storybook readings by educators from the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the parents of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III; Writopia Lab Workshop Tent, where the next generation of budding novelists and poets can hone their craft; and hands-on activities run by local non-profit groups.
