Social Media Library Display Contest

Calling all librarians and media specialists! As we get hyped up about the 10th annual Gaithersburg Book Festival—and visits from some of the world’s best authors—we’re excited to introduce a new contest in which you have a chance to win tickets to our private, VIP author reception.

CONTEST: Best Library Display promoting the Gaithersburg Book Festival (GBF)

OPEN TO: School and Public Libraries in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C.

CATEGORIES: Elementary school, Middle school, High school and Public Library

DETAILS: Librarians, email gbfnews@gaithersburgmd.gov one photograph of your best library display of GBF books by 5 p.m. on March 31, 2019. Photos must be in .jpg or .gif format and cannot exceed 1MB file size. By submitting a photo to the contest you verify that you have the legal authority to assign reprint rights to the City of Gaithersburg for the purpose of this contest.

REQUIREMENTS: The display must include the following GBF information: a) Name: Gaithersburg Book Festival, b) Date: May 18, 2019, c) website URL: www.gaithersburgbookfestival.org

CONTEST PROMOTION: The City of Gaithersburg will upload all of the photos entries to its GBF Instagram and Facebook accounts. Between April 1 and May 1, the public will be encouraged to “like” the photos on Facebook and Instagram. The contest will be promoted by the Gaithersburg Book Festival and the City of Gaithersburg (@GburgMD) through social media and other outlets. Entrants are encouraged to promote the contest as well.

WINNER SELECTION: The winner will be the library in each of the four categories whose photo receives the most combined “likes” on Facebook and Instagram while the contest is running.

PRIZES: The winner in each category will receive two tickets to the Gaithersburg Book Festival Author Reception, taking place on Friday, May 17, 2019, at Asbury Methodist Village.

MATERIALS AND QUESTIONS: Official GBF posters and bookmarks will be available in mid-March 2019. Request copies of these materials for use in displays and direct any questions about this contest to Carolyn Crosby at Carolyn.crosby@gaithersburgmd.gov, 240-805-1508.
