Lead a Workshop

The Festival Workshop Committee invites publishers, authors and teachers to submit workshop proposals that they would like to lead during the Festival. Chosen workshop leaders are paid or provided with an exhibitor table.

Each year, the Festival sponsors fun and informative writing workshops for adults, teens and children. In years past, offerings ranged from classes about poetry and building suspense in a mystery story to college essay tips and comic book basics. Workshops are free to our attendees and led by professionals from around the region.

Workshop proposals are considered by the Workshop Committee based on a variety factors, including the experience of the leader, how the workshop fits in with the overall line-up of workshops, and logistical issues. In addition to the Workshop Committee, the full Book Festival Committee must approve all selected workshops.

Proposed workshops should be 30 to 60 minutes long and specific in scope and target audience age range.

To submit a proposal for consideration, please fill in the Gaithersburg Book Festival 2018: Workshop Proposal Application.

  • Application deadline is February 1, 2018
  • Participants will be notified by email in early March 2018
  • Gaithersburg Book Festival is May 19, 2018 (10am – 6pm)
