2012 Hands-On Workshop: Are You a Poet Who Doesn’t Even Know It…?

Does the thought of writing poetry frighten you? Are you a fiction writer looking to energize your prose? Or maybe you’re a beginning poet who wants to learn more about the craft… whatever your background, if you find the idea of writing poetry fascinating or mystical, this workshop is one for you.

During his hour, poet Tony Mancus will help you explore the elements that drive contemporary poetry and then lead you through a world of writing games so you can create short poems that put these elements to work.

About Tony: Tony co-founded Flying Guillotine Press with Sommer Browning in 2008. He holds an MFA from the University of Arizona and his manuscript, “A Vessel Interior,” was a finalist for the Yale Series of Younger Poets award. His poems have appeared in Verse, Handsome, Painted Bride Quarterly, The Seattle Review and elsewhere.

Get organized and learn more about the submission process by attending What Machine’s Behind the Wheel? A Poetry Workshop, at the Gaithersburg Book Festival. Don’t forget that pre-registration is required for all hands-on workshops.
