Starr, Dr. Joshua

Dr. Joshua Starr began as Montgomery County Public Schools’ superintendent of schools in July 2011. His commitment to meeting the needs of students across the spectrum is evident in his career history, which began as a special education teacher in the New York City Public Schools nearly 20 years ago. Dr. Starr was the superintendent in Stamford, CT, from 2005 to 2011. Previously, he served as director of School Performance and Accountability in the New York City Department of Education. A self-professed life-long learner, Dr. Starr brings enormous energy, intellect and enthusiasm to his leadership of MCPS. Dr. Starr holds a doctorate degree in administration and social policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and has been published in many education journals.
