Help Us Convince Stephen Colbert He Should Speak at Our Festival
So we recently read that Stephen Colbert is jumping on the children’s book bandwagon and writing a book for kids. The title: “I Am a Pole (And So Can You!)”
We admit it. We got excited. Imagine having Stephen Colbert at our festival! And with his book launch date being in early May, the timing is PERFECT. Alas, our first attempt was unsuccessful. His publicist simply said he couldn’t attend.
But we are not ones to give up. (After all, if we were this great festival that drew 10,000+ people in just its second year wouldn’t even exist, right?)
So now we’ve decided to take it viral and take it to you, our GBF enthusiasts. Our goal: To flood Stephen Colbert’s mailbox with requests for him to come speak. But not just any request… we want your request to be specific. In fact, we’ve created a worksheet just for this purpose. Since the cover of the book is not yet up on any of the bookseller websites, we’re asking our fans — both young and old — to imagine what the cover should look like and show us. Just download the worksheet/flyer, add your art, and mail it to the address included there.
And remember, this will only work if he gets a LOT of these worksheets by different people. And I do mean A LOT. Thousands would be great. So after you show off your artistic ability, make sure you ask all your relatives, friends, colleagues, and kids to do the same. Have your kids’ Brownie/Girl Scout/Boy Scout troops do it. Are you a teacher? Have your class do it. Make your coworkers do it! And then start sending them in. Our goal is to flood his mailbox during the next two weeks. The time is now to show him just how fun, funny, and imaginative we are! (And if you have the technology, we’d love for you to scan in your artwork and send us a copy that we’ll include online in one of our many forums. Extra points if you send us pictures of you / your group making the art as well.)
So followers, fans, and readers, get to work! Help us bring Stephen Colbert to Gaithersburg, Maryland, on May 19! (And if you tweet about this campaign — and we encourage you to do so — make sure you use our #colbertatGBF hashtag.)
